Archives For Viral

It premiered in front of Wreck-it Ralph last year, and was recently nominated for an Oscar in animated short. Now Disney put their gem animation online and it already had over 1 million views in less than 48 hours!

Introducing a groundbreaking technique that seamlessly merges computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques, first-time director John Kahrs takes the art of animation in a bold new direction with the Oscar®-nominated short, “Paperman.” Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what the fates have in store for him. Created by a small, innovative team working at Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Paperman” pushes the animation medium in an exciting new direction.

It is all that and more! Check it out:

Amazing, right?

And to blow your mind further, let us show you a making of video where you can see the process that went into creating that look.

The amazing stop-motion artist Patrick Boivin presented his Youtube subscribers (and the rest of the world) with an awesome video wishing them a Happy 2013!

And what better to do so than with a stop-motion-dancing-Einstein??!

Check it out:

This is a really awesome video! Here’s what Neon, the studio that made it, had in mind:

We wanted to make a skate film. Our goal was to create a series of impossible yet photo-real shots, putting us right in the middle of the action. The real trick was developing a process that would allow us to create these shots with a small team of artists (instead of the usual small army).

And indeed they have accomplished that! Take a look:

The best part is yet come, want to know how they made it?!

There you go:

Each minute that goes by sees hours of new video content being uploaded to the Internet. As the vast amount of visual media grows across the world, competition is heating up for viewers. Pumping out more content is quickly becoming an outdated practice for increasing your discovery rate. Rather than overwhelming the system, smart promoters are using certain tools to improve their chances for discovery. Learning how users find videos they want to see will help you fine-tune your efforts as well.

Social Interactions

Internet users are increasing their reliance on personal recommendations to find content of all kinds. The proliferation of mediocre articles, music and video has made it harder to simply search for something interesting. It may seem hard to encourage your viewers to make these recommendations, but you don’t have to be pushy to boost social sharing. Integrate Facebook and Twitter support directly below your video if you are hosting it; then remind your viewers about these buttons at the end of each clip. Just a three-section reminder can help to increase social sharing drastically. Removing obstacles for your viewers will ensure that they spread your content if they really enjoy it.

Automated Recommendations

Netflix has seen a big increase in overall viewing since instituting their recommendation engine, which pulls viewing data from a variety of sources to make custom lists of interesting films for users. Watchers are looking for this kind of customisation in other venues as well. If you have been working to create a continuous channel of content, consider branching out into some form of custom channel system. YouTube has tools to help you create playlists and other video sets based on a keyword or topic. You can do the same on your own website by installing a management system that recommends related videos after each clip wraps up.

Trends and Memes

Whilst catching a trend at the upswing could hypothetically give your video a massive boost in viewers, it doesn’t translate into dedicated watchers that will return later. If you are trying to build a sustainable promotional or educational programme, focus on content that follows slower trends. Target a topic that is growing in interest rather than trying to play off a funny catchphrase from a celebrity. Sticking with ideas that remain popular for a few months at a time will provide bigger benefits in the long run.

Gem Animation: Dumb Ways to Die

Ricardo —  November 23, 2012 — 3 Comments

By chances you are one of the almost 20 million people who have seen this video, but we couldn’t help but to post it here on the Wooshii blog too, a brilliant animation with cute little characters singing a song with the… well, dumb ways to die.

It was made by McCann Melbourne as a safety campaign for Metro Trains in Melbourne is one fastest videos in the past year to reach 8 digits in views.

In a genius move and showing they know the web and viral content these days, they created a tumblr with GIFs from the animation. The catchy song, by Tangerine Kitty, is also on iTunes for sale, another great marketing touch.

Reaching the 20 million views now after being online for just a little over a week! Check it out:

The latest completed and launched Wooshii project is another one made for Life Technologies, and what did we all come up with this time?

Well, a very catchy song, a ballad for technical support and scientists in general, made in awesome kinetic typography form by Wooshii community member Ryan Hill.

Beware: the song could get stuck in your head all day long, sorry!

Without further ado, check it out:

It’s had over 5,000 views in just 3 days.

Another week, another link roundup! So here we go check out some great links we liked and shared over the past 7 days.

What you do when your company has a NA President that happens to be named Paul Ryan? Well you have some fun and make a video like the one in this post.

The inspiration for it was the unlikelihood of title really – all other stuff came along after it, including Wooshii’s Paul Ryan brilliant performance and community member Ashley King‘s awesome videography.

Given that the US election is just in 2 days, this is all the more relevant. Without firther ado, check it out:

Just last week we posted about our top 10 PSAs and this week we find another great one!

Made by john st. for War Child, a “family of independent humanitarian organisations which work together to help children and young people affected by armed conflict”, it is a very powerful and thought-provoking video.

Where childhood thrives, war does not. War Child provides the education, opportunity and justice that children in areas of conflict need to break the cycle of poverty and violence. Learn more at http://www.warchild.ca/

Take a look:

After the success of the first Ph.Diddy video and its sequel (Ph.Diva), Wooshii brought members MoreFrames once again for the third animation (threequel?!) for Life Technologies.

It is titled “Ph.Diddy at the Conference – Animation of Life out of the Biotech lab”, and, once again, the music is spot-on, the animation and character design are brilliant, and all in all it’s a really fun animated music video.

No point saying science is ont fun anymore! Check it out:
